UPDATE XVII: Visual Art and Projected Writings

Long time no see!

I have added a new page, VISUAL ART, to The Grand Tangent. This page is located as a sub-category under the WORKS page.

The VISUAL ART page features, and will continue to feature, my “art” and illustrations—developed by hand, digitally, or by some mixture of means and materials.

As for my writing, it has been stalled in many ways, but it is moving in a few particular directions: I intend, this year (2023) [I’M AN ETERNAL FLAKE AND STILL WORKING ON ALL OF THIS/ALL OF THE FOLLOWING] (as of March, 2024)!], to (1.) have Easy Noumenon: Early Poems [Revised Version] published online and as an e-book outside of Smashwords, where it’s currently featured, namely at Amazon via Kindle Direct Publishing; (2.) have Easy Noumenon: Early Poems [Revised Version] self-published in print—admittedly in a limited quantity, given financial constraints—(3.) have “Bugs” and a Few Other Stories re-published or re-released in its own revised version, as a self-published e-book; and (4.) have a new, small project I’ve completed [STILL WORKING ON IT (as of March, 2024)!], the chapbook The Waters (A Handful of Poems), released in print (also self-published) in a limited quantity.

This is the cover for my forthcoming chapbook, The Waters (A Handful of Poems) [COVER HAS BEEN CHANGED (as of March, 2024)!]:

All the best.

UPDATE XVI: ‘Easy Noumenon: Early Poems [Revised Version]’

I have had my self-published work of poetry (originally featured on Smashwords) Easy Noumenon: Early Poems (2016) updated and re-published on Smashwords as the revised Easy Noumenon: Early Poems [Revised Version]. The revised version allows for epub files of the chapbook to read better on e-readers and tablets.

Please enjoy.

UPDATE XV: “Reading: “An Essay Upon Number” (Part 2) [Selection] by Aleister Crowley” (Video)

In this post I’m linking a video I recently published to YouTube in which I read a selection of part 2 (“The Universe as We Seek To Make It”) of Aleister Crowley’s “An Essay Upon Number.” This “An Essay Upon Number” was included in Crowley’s The Temple of Solomon the King, which itself was included in the A∴A∴ periodical The Equinox, specifically Vol. I, No. 1. “An Essay Upon Number” was also included in Crowley’s 777 and Other Qabalistic Writings of Aleister Crowley.

Enjoy.

UPDATE XII: “The Initiatory Supreme Being Question…”

I wrote an essay on the question posed to initiates into the Independent Order of Odd Fellows regarding the supreme being. It was published in Heart in Hand: The Modern Odd Fellow’s Guide on November 5 of this year.

You can read the essay here.

I will also be featuring the essay on my blog LOGOS!.

UPDATE IX: “Anarchist, Thelemite, Odd Fellow…”

I just had an essay of mine (“Anarchist, Thelemite, Odd Fellow…”) published in the Odd Fellows blog Heart in Hand, courtesy of the wonderful Ainslie Heilich. This essay will also soon be featured on my blog LOGOS!.

The article goes over my person struggle coming to grips with my experience being simultaneously an anarchist, Thelemite, and Odd Fellow.

Please enjoy.

UPDATE VIII: Eight Poems in The Fictional Café

I recently had eight poems published in The Fictional Café online arts publication. All eight poems are featured on one page, under one link, and consist of (in order of appearance) “Amor Fati,” “Danny Didn’t Show,” “Hat City and the Mystery,” “One,” “Ward 9 (Hospital—Redux),” “Sanctum Sanctorum,” “I Have the Codes,” and “Poets and Rock Stars.”

Please enjoy reading them!

UPDATE VI: “Learning the Joy of Existence in Thelema”

I am happy to report that Thelemic Union has published my essay “Learning the Joy of Existence” (site founder and manager IAO131 renamed it “Learning the Joy of Existence in Thelema,” presumably to make it appear more relevant) on their site.

This essay covers the notion that existence is inherently joyous from a Thelemic perspective, and how to view it as such by engaging in the trances that Crowley discusses in his short book Little Essays Toward Truth.

Feel free to check it out.

UPDATE IV: “Bugs” and a Few Other Stories

I am pleased to announce that my e-book “Bugs” and a Few Other Stories has been published online through BookRix and BookRix affiliates.

“Bugs” is a very short collection of some half-dozen stories. Read through and delight in the silliness of these mostly short-lived, unashamedly shallow, and absurd tales, and find a little respite in the breathtakingly brief flash fiction piece “Acceptance (At Donato’s),” a meditation on the the mystical transience of life.

It’s free!

Feel free to rate and review it on Goodreads!

UPDATE III: Apologies, Excuses[?], and a Potential Return

Hello everyone. (No-one—let’s be real: in the years since I’ve started this blog I’ve had few if any people actually follow it. I’m talking to a brick wall. I always have been and I likely always will be.) I’d like to apologize for my extended absence.

Since December 2018 (so about a year and two months ago) I haven’t written anything on this blog, and in a little less time I haven’t put anything up on my LOGOS! blog, either.

I don’t like to make excuses, but between my lifelong issues with ADHD and continued problems with debilitating depression, I found myself unable to write much of anything for the past year. A horrific breakup at the beginning of last year put me in the shitter and I really haven’t been the same since.

Here’s hoping I can soon return to form and turn my life around.

Frankly, time management, commitment, compartmentalization, and maintaining a schedule have been nearly impossible for me my entire life, and still prove the greatest of difficulties for me at the age of 28.

So, going forward, it’s going to be an uphill battle, as always, making this and LOGOS! really work. (Much less gaining followers!)

Anyway, I’d ask you to forgive me, though I know no-one is really reading this, so I guess the most I can ask is for me to forgive myself.

That’s much harder.

All the best.
